Responsibilities

  • Assist the Girls' Head Basketball Coach with the Program.
  • Assist with developing, monitoring, supervising, and training beginners and advanced student-athletes to compete in Basketball.
  • Motivate and mentor student-athletes both on and off the court.
  • Build relationships with and mentor student-athletes academically and athletically.
  • Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
  • Guide student-athletes to develop moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence, and good sportsmanship.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
  • Cooperate with the School Athletic Office and the District Athletic Department regarding requests for pertinent information.
  • Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
  • Model the behavior expected of student-athletes, including timeliness, positivity, respect, and constructive criticism.
  • Maintain suitable sideline conduct, including appropriate language, at all times.
  • Dress appropriately at all practices and games.
  • Provide in-season and out-of-season training rules to team members in writing prior to the start of the season and follow due process for violations.
  • Follow the District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook.
  • Implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and PIAA.
  • Assist with scheduling and completing a full season of contests, including State-tournament games.
  • Assist with pre-season practices starting on the first day permitted by PIAA rules.
  • Participate in clinics and programs to improve coaching performance.
  • Participate in school events such as Awards Night and Athletic Boosters Meetings.
  • Demonstrate physical vitality, enthusiasm, and good judgment in decision-making.
  • Accept and apply constructive criticism to improve coaching performance.
  • Use competent techniques of the sport, ensuring players respond positively to directions.
  • Adapt properly to changing game situations.
  • Stay knowledgeable about the sport and seek ways to improve coaching techniques.
  • Innovate using new coaching techniques alongside proven methods.
  • Ensure the team is well-prepared for opponents.
  • Motivate the team to meet or exceed goals and stress the value of acceptable behavior.
  • Assist with the maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

  • Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college.
  • Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is preferred.
  • Satisfactory result on a State Police Records Check, Child Abuse Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.

Pay

Coaching stipend per MOU.
