Assistant Girls Varsity Basketball Coach

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
• Lead socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student-athletes.
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to help organize and supervise a Varsity Basketball program.
• Previous successful coaching experience preferred.
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
• Continues to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to Basketball.
• Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies of EHS.
• Knowledge of existing NHIAA regulations.
• Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels.
• Aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.

Administrative Duties

• Assists the head coach and athletic director in scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournament and special sport events.
• Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.

Student Responsibilities

• Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration of character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
• Gives constant attention to a student-athlete's grades and conduct.
• Provides assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant by being present at all practices, games, and while traveling.

Reports To

The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principal.
