Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Two years’ experience working with children required or approved post-secondary training
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge: Ability to supervise and support operations of the Child Care Center. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Mental Concentration: Considerable concentration intermittently.
Interruptions: Occur constantly.
Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort in predominantly standing position. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Special Demands: Moderate travel. Potential eyestrain.
Current PA Driver's License and access to a vehicle.
Special Requirements
History verification showing free of child abuse/neglect by authorities.
Act 33/34 Clearances and staff health assessment completed.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Provide day-to-day care to the children in the Learning Tree Children Care and Preschool Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements curriculum designed to meet educational, social, and health needs and abilities of children.
- Remains up-to-date on information that pertains to the needs of the children in the program including child care licensing regulations and other applicable regulations and practices.
- Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to children, families and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Affords assistance in implementing education lesson plans and daily programs for children in accordance with each child’s need, based on a method of observing and recording children’s interests and current levels of functioning.
- Displays evidence of positive and productive relationship with children, staff and parents.
- Provides appropriate activities for physical, cognitive and social-emotional development of each child.
- Sustains positive guidance and discipline.
- Maintains a commitment to professionalism and continues own professional development so that decisions are based on knowledge of early childhood theories and practice.
- Attends staff meetings as required.
- Attends training as determined appropriate.
- Participates in and supports parent and family involvement activities.
- Establishes and maintains daily communication with families regarding child’s development and daily routine; formal and informal meetings and discussions.
- Affords assistance in respectful inclusion of children with all special needs into the classroom community.
- Participates in all curricular activities, etc.
- Assists in screening, observing and assessing children as required.
- Meets with parents, other content area staff, and community agencies as requested.
- Works with other staff in providing comprehensive services for children at the center.
- Performs other related work as required on behalf of the agency.
- Ensures compliance with all state, federal and local regulations and licensing requirements.
- Ensures a high-quality education, in keeping with the vision and goals of LCCAP.
