Assistant Group Leader (SONYC)

Job Summary

The Summer Assistant Group Leader supports and assists staff in carrying out all planned educational and enrichment activities for the after-school enrichment and recreational program.

Major Duties

• Affiliate with the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and craft and special events
• Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary
• Supervise participants throughout afterschool program
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up
• Affiliate with activity instructors with lessons
• Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment
• Follows all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits, and ability to work with other youth
• Must be available during the program hours listed above
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment
• Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective
