Essential Functions, Primary Responsibilities and Objectives
- Conduct prospect research to identify new funding opportunities that align with the College’s mission, initiatives, and programs.
- Review grant application guidelines to identify compatible funding opportunities to benefit the College and inform supervisor of research activity.
- Write grants for federal and state government agencies, public/private foundations, and other funding sources.
- Prepares proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.
- Aids in maintaining and updating tracking documents for proposals, reports, renewals, and prospects.
- Maintain complete records of past, current and future grant proposals.
- Communicate with various College departments as well as support departments to gather necessary and accurate correspondence and follow-up reports to funders, as necessary.
- Ensure appropriate electronic and hard copy record keeping of grants, research, and related documents.

- Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations.
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to review, interpret and prepare written responses to a variety of requests from potential funders.
- Proficient communication skills.
Education
- Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred in communications, English, professional writing or a similar major.
Experience
- Experience with grant writing preferred, but not required.
- Prior experience with data entry and databases, spreadsheets and word processing software required.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Experience working in an office setting preferred.
