Dundee-Crown is seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of Assistant Track Coach with expertise in shot put, discus, distance running, and other track events. This position involves assisting in the overall management of the track program.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with coaching staff to develop practice and game plans.
  • Monitor, teach, instruct, and motivate student-athletes.
  • Study and break down game film.
  • Keep detailed records of practice, progress, and results.
  • Enhance, improve, and maximize students' athletic skills to compete at a high level.
  • Organize and oversee specific program levels or areas of responsibility.
  • Communicate with the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director to secure safe practice and competition facilities.
  • Support the philosophy, programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals, and proper conditioning communicated by the head coach.
  • Plan practice sessions and competition strategies with the head coach to ensure student health and well-being.
  • Coordinate with the head coach and Athletic Director for all in-season practices.
  • Ensure all student participants comply with D300 and IHSA requirements (athletic physical, Code of Conduct, fees paid, academic eligibility).
  • Model and instill values of sportsmanship and fair play; enforce consequences for breaches.
  • Attend all student-athlete practices, games, and monitor supervision during practices, games, and school-provided transportation.
  • Maintain and provide end-of-season individual and team records and statistics to the head coach.
  • Participate in a mandatory preseason parent meeting.
  • Assist the head coach in planning the seasonal recognition program.
  • Assist in the orderly distribution and collection of uniforms and equipment.
  • Engage in personal professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Previous Assistant Track Coaching experience is preferred.
  • Ability to coach at all levels within the program and in various areas.
  • Organized, flexible, and able to take direction from the head coach or direct supervisor.
  • Ability to work effectively with parents and the Booster Club.
