Responsibilities

  • Aid in effectively managing the store, aligning with company standards and objectives.
  • Plan, allocate, and direct tasks to department employees.
  • Oversee department personnel, covering areas such as training, time and attendance, employee purchase policies, etc.
  • Manage product ordering with the General Manager.
  • Plan and distribute products to customers, collaborate with suppliers for purchases and deliveries.
  • Handle and resolve customer and employee complaints.
  • Conduct interviews, train, develop, and evaluate grocery associates, including performance evaluations, rewards, and disciplinary actions.
  • Be thoroughly acquainted with all products stocked in the store, understanding their differences in price, taste, preparation, or usage.
  • Adhere to approved procedures for receiving, dating, pricing, and restocking products to ensure quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of department merchandise, verifying all items listed on vendor invoices against quality standards.
  • Monitor labor costs, food costs, production, food presentation, quantities, waste, and rotation to positively impact the department's gross profit.
  • Communicate effectively within the department, across the store, and throughout the organization.
  • Promote a positive department image by keeping the area clean, organized, attractive, and welcoming to customers.
  • Greet customers promptly and courteously, providing them with excellent service.
  • Motivate associates to meet company sales, merchandising, and customer service goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience or demonstrated abilities, required.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Preferred Food Management Certification.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including attention to detail, goal orientation, and follow-through.
  • Positive attitude, including people skills, innovation, and proactivity.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for 8 or more hours.
  • Ability to multitask, maintain a positive attitude, and solve problems.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
