Assistant Fund Controller - Hedge Fund
Job Summary
Provide oversight and mentorship to junior fund accounting professionals.
Review complex management fee, incentive fee, and allocation calculations across multiple investment vehicles.
Act as a primary liaison with auditors, tax advisors, administrators, and other external service providers.
Lead annual audit and financial reporting processes, including the preparation and review of fund financial statements.
Cook up tax reporting efforts and work alongside external tax providers to ensure timely and accurate filings.
Partner with internal teams across operations, compliance, legal, and finance on strategic initiatives and process improvements.
Monitor fund governing documents and ensure adherence to accounting and reporting requirements.
Dive into enhancements to accounting processes, controls, and systems to support continued growth.
Oversee the review of fund NAV packages, investment valuations, capital activity, and investor reporting while coordinating closely with third-party administrators.
Manage daily fund accounting operations, including general ledger activity, expense allocations, and shadow accounting processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining public accounting and alternative investment fund experience.
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting, investment valuations, and financial reporting under U.S. GAAP.
- Experience reviewing work and providing guidance to junior team members.
- CPA designation required.
- Background in hedge funds, private credit, private equity, or other alternative investment structures preferred.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
