Description of Duties/Essential Functions
Under general supervision, conducts exams of state chartered credit unions. Receives training and assists Financial Institutions Examiner II’s & Financial Institutions Examiner III’s in conducting exams of larger credit unions or in specialized exam activity to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Credit Union Act and to ensure the safety and soundness of the credit union operations. Travels to various sites to conduct the exams.
Minimum Requirements
- Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college with a desirable minor in audit accounting or possession of a Certified Public Accountant rating.
- Completion of the approved agency training program or the equivalent of one year professional experience involving either examination of financial institutions or the equivalent professional experience within a financial institution.
- An elementary knowledge of existing relevant state/federal statutes governing the financial industry; examining methods and techniques; knowledge and understanding of the various types of securities and collateral held by financial institutions.
- A basic knowledge of the structure, operations and management of financial institutions; business administration principles; basic economic principles and practices.
- The ability to establish and maintain effective public relations and working relationships with officials of the industry being regulated; recognize existing or potential problems based upon established procedures and criteria; communicate effectively in oral and written form; compose written reports in a concise and logical manner; acquire requisite knowledge pertaining to lending policies, appraisal techniques and management concepts; react effectively and efficiently under stressful conditions.
- A valid driver’s license.
- The ability to pick up and carry at least 25 lb. of equipment to and from job sites.
