Assistant Football Coach

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Wakeman Boys & Girls Club is looking for an energetic and responsible coach who has a passion for working with children to join our organization in our Football League. This position will help motivate student athletes to develop an appreciation for the sport. Coaches will also be responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. A primary function of this and every other job at Wakeman Boys & Girls Club is to ensure that each member, guest, and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)

- Assist in organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to participate in the sport. - Assess player's skills and assign team positions. - Assist and attend all practice and be at the practice site 15 minutes prior to practice starting. - Implement a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development. - Work with the program director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition. - Coach and instruct players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. - Observe players during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement. - Establish and maintain standards of members behavior and always provide proper supervision of athletes. - Monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met. - Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury. - Follow state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program. - Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators. - Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with community partners. - Follow established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms. - Participate in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies. - Interact in a positive manner with staff, youth members, parents, and volunteers. - Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation. - This position may require standing for long periods of time. - This position may require lifting items up to 50lbs.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Experience working with young children, especially middle school students. - Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. - Effective, active listening skills. - Effective coaching techniques and skills. - Ability to work effectively with others. - Organizational and problem-solving skills. - Basic computer skills.

REQUIREMENTS

- USA Football Certification. - CPR & AED Certification (First Aid not required). - Boys & Girls Club or youth organization experience preferred. - Experience working with youth grades 3rd-8th. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior. - Knowledge of youth development strategies. - Ability to work with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

COMPENSATION

Assistant Football Coach: $1,000.00
