Assistant Executive Director, DMC
About the Role
The Assistant Executive Director of Development and Marketing (DMC) is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, overseeing, and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program to secure financial resources from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other sources. This role supports the agency's budget and development strategies, projects contributions to the annual budget, reports on gift revenues, and provides progress updates.
Serving as the agency’s principal fundraising officer and grants administrator, the Assistant Executive Director, DMC, will design long-range strategic priorities, execute corporate and foundation proposal writing, and conduct donor prospecting and research. The role involves managing fundraising efforts, including planned giving, principal gifts, annual funds, multi-year fundraising campaigns (including potential capital campaigns), and special events. Additionally, the Assistant Executive Director will design, develop, and market a compelling case for support.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, coordinate, oversee, and implement a comprehensive fundraising program.
- Secure financial resources from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other sources.
- Project contributions to the annual budget and report on gift revenues.
- Design long-range strategic priorities for fundraising.
- Execute corporate and foundation proposal writing.
- Conduct donor prospecting and research.
- Manage fundraising efforts, including planned giving, principal gifts, annual funds, multi-year campaigns, and special events.
- Design, develop, and market a compelling case for support.
- Motivate and lead a team, set objectives, manage staff performance, and communicate goals effectively to the board of directors or volunteers.
Requirements
- Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible fundraising experience.
- Proven success in engaging various donor segments, including individuals, companies, corporations, and foundations.
- Management experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, or Liberal Arts.
- Membership in the Association for Fundraising Professionals.
- Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP).
- Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) from the American Marketing Association (AMA).
- Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive (ACFRE) (preferred).
Skills
- Proficient in Windows software.
- Experience with philanthropy and fundraising software, such as Blackbaud CRM or Raiser's Edge (strongly preferred).
