Selection Process
- Minimum Qualifications (pass/fail): Six years of full-time paid experience as a St. Louis County Deputy Sheriff, excluding Law Enforcement Trainee time; OR, at least two years of full-time paid experience as a Deputy Sheriff Sergeant. Possession of a valid Minnesota Peace Officer’s License. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Work Environment
- CONSTANT: Wears equipment and protective gear weighing up to 20 pounds; near, midrange, and far vision; depth perception; field of vision; visual accommodation; color vision; hear in both ears within 5 feet; and shift work.
- FREQUENT: Hear in both ears within 20 feet; bend neck; climb stairs; crouch; feel; use fingers; grasp; handle; kneel; maintain posture; move about; reach; reach above shoulder; rotate neck; squat; stand; stoop/bend; talk/speak; twist; taste/smell; walk; work with and around others; customer/public contact; clients with behavioral challenges; extended days; work outside; and drive.
- OCCASIONAL: Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; balance; static neck position; throw; right and left wrist turn; exposure to weather; elevated surfaces; chemicals; blood-borne pathogens; slippery surfaces; moving objects; and traffic.
