About the Role

Assist the Director of Nutrition Services with the day-to-day operation of an Opaa! Food Management account in conjunction with the Director of Nutrition Services (DNS).

Responsibilities

  • Production
    • Arrange for substitute worker scheduling as needed.
    • Transport food products around the district buildings daily.
    • Perform duties of on-line staff when substitute workers are unavailable.
    • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized office work area.
  • Compliance
    • Demonstrate and promote Opaa!’s Core Values: “Always Act in the Best Interest of the Client, Demonstrate Integrity to Earn Trust, Provide Hospitality, Accept Accountability.”
    • Report concerns to the Director of Nutrition Services immediately.
    • Ensure compliance with Opaa! recipes and menus.
    • Assist in maintaining production records as required by Opaa! and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
    • Assist in promoting and maintaining cost management goals set by Opaa!
    • Assist in preparing monthly in-service, NAC meetings, and other group meetings.
    • Assist in implementing the marketing program per Opaa! requirements.
    • Monitor HACCP processes and record temperatures of all hot and cold products.
    • Assist in reconciling the daily tray count versus cashier’s reports.
  • Administrative
    • Input complete and accurate invoices, participation, and other information into the system daily.
    • Reconcile daily cash reports and prepare receipts for deposit where applicable.
    • Update weekly inventory spreadsheets to ensure accurate valuation of food and supplies.
    • Assist in consolidating weekly food orders for input with prime vendors or milk and bread vendors.
    • Assist in coordinating catering events to ensure quality special events.
  • Supervisory
    • Assist the DNS in managing, directing, and scheduling subordinate personnel.
    • Assist the DNS with performance issues and workplace conflicts in a timely manner.
    • Train, cross-train, and certify all kitchen staff on job responsibilities.
    • Oversee cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, coolers, freezers, and storage areas.
  • Client Relationships
    • Establish and maintain open and effective communication with customers to ensure client satisfaction.
    • Assist the DNS in preparing and presenting a monthly status report to the Board of Education.
    • Assist the DNS in marketing events per Opaa! Guidelines.
    • Assist the DNS in coordinating catering events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical/Visual Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, grasp, feel, taste, smell, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must occasionally exert over 60 pounds of force and/or frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include concentrated attention, depth perception, sharp focus, and color vision.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Six months to one year of related experience.

Skills

  • Language Skills
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
    • Ability to write simple correspondence.
    • Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Mathematical Skills
    • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability
    • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
    • Ability to address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Machines, Tools, and Equipment
    • Experience with dishwashers, steamers/kettles, mixers, ovens, stoves, fryers, slicers, thermometers, gauges, knives, box cutters.
    • Familiarity with meal counting software, desktop PCs, calculators, telephones, fax machines, scanners, copiers, and printers.
