About the role
The BNSF Railway Engineering Department designs, constructs, and maintains the infrastructure of our extensive rail network. This role applies advanced engineering principles to address complex challenges, ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations. Travel is required approximately 25% - 50%. Daily work is conducted in an indoor/outdoor safety-sensitive environment with diverse and extreme weather conditions, uneven surfaces, loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery. Relocation assistance may be offered based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist the GDLM/Division Engineers in directing the prioritization, scheduling, and execution of capital maintenance activities across the division associated with the Division construction gang.
- Responsible for maintenance activities with BNSF Service Outcome Agreement requirements.
- Communicate with BNSF Passenger Ops, NOC, Division Transportation, and other stakeholders regarding maintenance activities impacting the BNSF Service Outcome Agreement.
- Ensure compliance with safety rules, work practices, labor policies, regulatory requirements, and personnel hiring and training objectives across the division.
- Manage capital and operating budgets for BNSF workgroups, work programs, and Capital Construction gangs.
- Supervise construction Roadmaster and assist in Division coverage for emergency response, Manager Weekend Duty coverage, Capital Construction, and Capital Maintenance programs.
- Ensure compliance with and consistent application of company policies (e.g., BNSF's Equal Employment Opportunity, Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Policy; applicable safety rules; union agreements; FRA standards; and government regulations).

Requirements
- Current BNSF employees with FLS Certification.
- Must have obtained Tier III certification from a Manager of Engineering Certification.
- Possess working knowledge of railroad union agreements.
- Self-directed, motivated, and able to communicate effectively (orally or in writing) in one-on-one or group settings.
- Knowledge of safe railroad operations and practices.
- Safety-conscious and able to support and contribute to a strong safety process.
- Commitment to establishing safer work practices toward an injury-free work environment.
- Expertise in using engineering computer systems for data entry, work plan management, and work analysis.
- Knowledge of BNSF Engineering Instructions, FRA Track Safety Standards, and MOW General Code of Operating Rules.
- Experience supervising Engineering field forces (Signal, Structures, Track, Roadway Equipment) and Engineering maintenance activities.
- Able to work safely in diverse and extreme weather conditions, including climbing on/off equipment and bending, walking, standing, and sitting occasionally with breaks.
- Able to meet travel requirements (25% - 50%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of BNSF Engineering processes.
- MRP and/or ADMP experience.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of various accounting information systems, budgets (operating, capital, and suspense authority).
Pay
Salary range: $128,430 - $142,700.
