Responsibilities

  • Investigating and enhancing high-risk cases including, but not limited to Attempted Murder, Stalking, Assault, Arson, Burglary and Criminal Contempt domestic violence cases prior to the defendant’s arrest.
  • Drafting charging documents, securing order applications, search warrants, subpoenas, and other legal documents, as necessary.
  • Presenting cases to the grand jury.
  • Representing the District Attorney at Supreme Court arraignments, pre-trial hearings, and bench and jury trials.
  • Forging relationships with law enforcement and community partners.
  • Collaborating with the NYPD Domestic Violence Unit, Domestic Violence Prevention Officers, Queens Family Justice Center partner agencies, and the Crime Victim Assistance Program to increase victim safety prior to the defendant’s apprehension.
  • Coordinating with Intelligence Analysts to review data concerning domestic violence incidents in Queens County, including data provided by the NYPD, and developing strategies to suppress domestic violence.
  • Gathering discovery to ensure compliance with Article 245.

Qualifications

  • An interested applicant must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have relevant experience as a prosecutor.
  • Preferred applicants should also have:
    • Experience working with victims of domestic violence and/or experience handling pre-arrest investigations.
    • Excellent case-management skills and experience handling a heavy caseload.

Benefits

Salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $102,000 to $123,500.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $102,000 to $123,500 per year.
