Assistant District Attorney – Child Support

Position Description

Located in the heart of Lake Country, District 20 is the home to Lake Murray, Lake Texoma, Lake of the Arbuckles and the Chickasaw National Recreational Center, Turner Falls, as well as Lake Crest Hotel & Casino at Lake Murray, Winstar Casino, Artesian Hotel & Casino, and soon the Hard Rock Café at Lake Texoma. The District Attorney’s Child Support Services Division Office is located in Ardmore, OK, in the OKDHS building. This is an in-person position and does not have a telework or remote option.

Minimum Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• License to practice law in State of Oklahoma and a member of Oklahoma Bar Association
• Minimum four (4) years of legal experience
• Strong writing and research skills
• The ability to effectively communicate and work with law enforcement, elected officials, attorneys, and other agencies
• Pass a fingerprint and background check with no criminal history

Job Responsibilities

• Primary responsibility as Managing Attorney for a CSS office
• Preparation and filing of pleadings and trial of cases in child support related hearings in district and administrative courts
• Training and assisting staff with preparation of legal documents and ensuring compliance with ethical considerations
• Consultation and negotiation with other attorneys and customers of Oklahoma Child Support Services, and interpretation of laws, regulations, opinions of the court and policy
• Directing the legal activities of the office, supervising the preparation of cases for court, representing the agency in the most complex cases, involvement in all aspects of the establishment and enforcement of child support Orders
• Representing the State of Oklahoma in both District and Administrative Court proceedings
