Assistant Director Student Activities
Job Summary
The Assistant Director Student Activities is responsible for developing campus community and student leadership skills, by assessing, training, and advising student leaders who provide campus-wide programming and student representation, planning and implementing campus events.
Duties & Essential Job Functions
Develops student leadership skills by advising student leaders; designing and facilitating leadership development and training opportunities; teaching event planning and programming skills; supervising student-led activities; and developing and implementing assessment and risk management protocol.
Implements campus-wide programming by planning and coordinating events; advising student leaders; securing equipment, supplies, and event space; collaborating with campus partners; developing marketing strategies; and creating and implementing assessment and risk management protocols.
Serves as the primary advisor for one of Student Activities’ student leadership boards.
Servings on divisional and University committees related to on-campus traditions and events.
Required Education & Experience
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Services, Leadership Development, or a related field of study
2 years of program management experience in higher education environment including but not limited to, advising, teaching, or facilitating student development.

Skills in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
Skills in all components of Adobe projects.
Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to implement student development theory in student advising and University-wide programming.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community members.
Ability to collaborate with physical plant support services, conference services, instructional services, and food services as it relates to campus-wide programming.

Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment
Indoors and sedentary.
Subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.

The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
