RISE is an innovative human services network originally established in 1987 to move individuals living in institutions into family settings. Since then, services have grown to support children, adults, and families with a variety of needs across multiple states, including residential settings, day programs, employment assistance, managed care, and home and community-based services. The Assistant Director position is based in Kingman, AZ, and supports our Mohave County region.

About the Role

This role is ideal for a dedicated professional with experience supporting individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. The Assistant Director provides leadership and support to Direct Support Professional staff and the people and families we serve. Responsibilities include managing RISE programs, overseeing staffing needs, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and policies while upholding the RISE mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management and support that meets and exceeds the expectations of RISE customers.
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and manage the performance of Direct Support Professionals (DSP) staff.
  • Ensure provided support meets the expectations of all policies and procedures, including compliance with DES/DDD and other relevant licensing requirements.
  • Foster a learning organization at all levels, continually increasing knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain necessary records, logs, and documentation as required by RISE planning teams and state agencies.
  • Attend all staff meetings and mandatory training as required.
  • Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Complete employee payroll summaries accurately and within designated time frames, ensuring compliance with DOL regulations.
  • Demonstrate competency in financial and budgetary issues.
  • Ensure individuals receive support with daily living, medication, medical issues, and community access as relevant.
  • Maintain clean and safe environments.
  • Frequently interact with people receiving support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or two (2) years of supervisory experience in the management of complex programs; or four (4) years of experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Previous knowledge and experience working with the State of Arizona Department of Economic Security’s Department of Developmental Disabilities is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Appropriate telephone etiquette skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to travel within the local area and other parts of the state as needed.

Additional Candidacy Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license, be at least twenty-one years of age, and meet driver requirements as specified by RISE Insurance Agency.
  • Must successfully complete a background check, driving record check, and obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
