ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, RADIOLOGY (1.0 FTE, DAYS)

This position reports to the Director of Radiology and leadership team.

About the role

The Radiology Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Director of Radiology with all aspects of the department operations and functions. The Assistant Director will oversee the radiology operations of various modalities at all UWMC Radiology campuses, requiring frequent travel to these locations to assure consistent service standards, evaluate operations, and provide leadership and structure for the department. This position is responsible for all aspects of the patient and provider experience associated with Radiology.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and direction in accordance with organizational goals, objectives, and initiatives.
• Continually works on performance improvement activities within the clinical sites of service in collaboration with the director, medical director, supervisors, radiologists, and staff, and with other departments as appropriate.
• Works collaboratively with the Vice Chair of Radiology, Medical Directors, Faculty, and Director of Radiology to ensure success of the department.
• Responsible and accountable for the overall technical operation of the Radiology department and each of its modalities and locations within the scope of this role.
• Oversees management, oversight, maintenance, and improvement of the business functions and processes for Radiology.
• Must be knowledgeable in the detailed operation of the Radiology Information System, PACS, Epic, electronic order entry, and clinical decision support systems.
• Oversees the hospital billing and compliance process in Radiology.
• Coordinates with the Director, Supervisors, Radiology IT, QA/QC Education Coordinators, Physics, and Radiology Faculty to achieve integrated departmental operations.
• Manages general operations of the Radiology Departments at all sites in a cost-effective manner to ensure patient, physician, visitor, and staff satisfaction, as well as safety, efficient patient flow, optimum use of equipment, and highest quality diagnostic results.
• Assists with development, justifications, and achieving the fiscal budgets for the cost centers within the department of Radiology.
• Assists with managing revenue cycle flow in the department to ensure timely submission of charges.
• Assists with and makes recommendations for guidance and oversight of all HR-related matters, policies, and practices within the department of Radiology.
• Ensures consistency in HR practice within the department for direct and indirect reports.
• Provides oversight of all hiring, completion of regular performance evaluations, performance improvement, counseling employees, developing staff, and, as appropriate, utilizing the disciplinary process and recommending termination of staff.
• When necessary, recommends the discharge of staff in consultation with the Director.
• Assists with adherence to Compliance Program Policies, procedures, and standards of conduct as well as to Ambulatory, UWMC, NWH, and UW Medicine policies and procedures.
• Ensures that the departments meet regulatory standards (i.e., Joint Commission, DOH, and the American College of Radiology).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Radiology, or Business.
• Professional Certification or License: ARRT.
• 5 or more years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist and in good standing with the ARRT.
• 7 years of direct leadership experience including direct reports, operations, and financial responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience in planning, construction, and equipment installs.
• Analytic and critical thinking skills, process improvement experience.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, change management experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, RIS, and PACS systems.

• Registry in multiple modalities (desired).
• MBA, MHA, or equivalent graduate degree (desired).
• Academic and/or research experience (desired).
• Large hospital system experience (desired).

Pay

Pay Range Minimum: $170,004.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum: $230,004.00 annual
