About the Role

The Assistant Director, Product & Program Strategy supports the design, development, operationalization, and continuous improvement of NDAA's Education & Engagement portfolio. This role translates strategic educational direction into structured, scalable, and high-quality learning experiences across conferences, trainings, institutes, webinars, certificate programs, and emerging educational initiatives. Working closely with the Director of Education & Engagement, this position ensures consistency, quality, and operational sustainability across the portfolio while integrating curriculum strategy, product development, operational planning, digital learning, marketing alignment, evaluation, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities

  • Product & Program Operationalization
    • Translate the Association’s portfolio strategy and educational priorities into scalable educational products and participant-centered learning experiences.
    • Manage educational products throughout their lifecycle, including concept refinement, pilot implementation, launch, evaluation, continuous improvement, and retirement.
    • Serve as the primary internal owner for assigned educational offerings in the absence of dedicated portfolio managers.
    • Ensure programs align with intended audiences, learning outcomes, participant experience standards, and consistent educational design.
    • Apply standardized product frameworks while adapting to subject matter, audience needs, and delivery formats.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen program design, instructional flow, participant engagement, and operational effectiveness through data and feedback.
    • Prototype new educational products, delivery models, and participant experiences for leadership consideration.
  • Product Systems & Portfolio Development
    • Develop and maintain standardized educational product frameworks, templates, workflows, and implementation tools.
    • Build scalable, repeatable educational systems that reduce reliance on individually designed programs while preserving instructional quality.
    • Maintain product documentation, lifecycle management, version control, and portfolio governance.
    • Develop operational infrastructure to support portfolio growth, distributed program ownership, and long-term sustainability.
    • Ensure educational products remain aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Curriculum Coordination & Learning Strategy
    • Implement and reinforce NDAA's educational philosophy, instructional direction, and adult learning strategy.
    • Coordinate development of instructional architecture, educational agendas, learning objectives, and participant experience standards.
    • Ensure educational offerings prioritize applied learning, practitioner relevance, participant engagement, and real-world decision-making.
    • Support the development and evolution of cohort-based learning models, certificate programs, and long-term educational pathways.
  • Program Ownership & Educational Delivery
    • Oversee educational coordination and operational readiness across assigned programs and initiatives.
    • Manage program timelines, educational deliverables, participant experience standards, and operational dependencies.
    • Ensure programs operate within organizational capacity and align with strategic priorities.
    • Partner with operational staff and external resources to support seamless implementation and delivery.
    • Lead onsite educational coordination for flagship programs, trainings, symposiums, and strategic initiatives.
  • Marketing, Communications & Product Positioning
    • Develop and maintain program positioning, educational messaging, and participant-facing materials in partnership with communications staff.
    • Ensure educational offerings are clearly positioned for defined audiences with compelling value propositions.
    • Maintain consistency in educational messaging, branding, tone, and participant communications.
    • Ensure participant-facing communications accurately reflect learning outcomes and expectations.
  • Digital Learning & Educational Technology
    • Lead educational coordination for virtual learning experiences, hybrid programming, webinars, and emerging digital initiatives.
    • Partner with operational staff to support LMS alignment, participant workflows, and digital course structure.
    • Apply instructional design principles to virtual and hybrid learning environments to maximize engagement.
    • Integrate digital learning experiences into broader learning pathways and portfolio strategy.
  • Evaluation, Data & Portfolio Improvement
    • Analyze participation trends, engagement data, participant feedback, and educational outcomes to evaluate portfolio performance.
    • Use data and field insights to strengthen educational quality, participant experience, and product positioning.
    • Identify opportunities to refine, modernize, scale, and improve educational products and operational processes.
    • Prioritize product development initiatives based on organizational strategy, participant needs, and operational capacity.
    • Monitor emerging trends and practitioner needs to inform future portfolio strategy.
    • Recommend continuation, expansion, redesign, or retirement of educational products based on performance and priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Seven to twelve years of experience in education, adult learning, curriculum development, program strategy, professional education, or related fields.
  • Experience designing, launching, improving, or managing professional education products, adult learning initiatives, or educational portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design, and participant-centered educational development.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, educational initiatives, or product portfolios.
  • Experience in legal, government, nonprofit, membership association, or professional education environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with prosecutorial practice, legal systems, continuing education, or professional training environments strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to design scalable educational programs and products.
  • Deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and participant-centered education.
  • Ability to design engaging learning experiences that emphasize applied learning and real-world relevance.
  • Ability to translate strategic direction into effective operational execution.
  • Experience developing scalable systems, operational frameworks, and repeatable educational processes.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to analyze educational data and participant feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including educational writing and participant-facing messaging.
  • Experience supporting digital learning initiatives, webinars, educational technology, or learning management systems (LMS) preferred.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity while building new programs, products, and organizational capabilities.

Pay

Salary range: $90,000 – $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
