Simpson College is a vibrant four-year private college affiliated with the United Methodist Church located in Indianola, Iowa. The town of Indianola has a population of around 16,000 and is located 12 miles south of Des Moines.

About the role

The Assistant Director of Student Experience oversees the administration of Fraternity/Sorority and theme housing (approximately 250 residents) and is responsible for developing and supervising 6+ student staff members. The AD serves as one of four on-call professionals and leads departmental projects such as FSL recruitment, staff training, or selection.

The successful candidate will develop interpersonal relationships with students through staff leadership, programming implementation, and conducting meetings and counseling/advising students with individual concerns, as they facilitate the development of an academic and responsible community. The Assistant Director’s main responsibility is within the FSL residential community; opportunities exist to obtain additional/collateral experience in the Division of Student Development, as desired.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred but not required
  • Previous FSL experience required; professional FSL experience preferred
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
