Assistant Director of Security

About the role

The Assistant Director of Security oversees the safety and security of The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel in Lower Manhattan. Reporting to the Director of Hotel Facilities, this position leads the Security Department, managing teams, responding to incidents, conducting investigations, preparing for emergencies, controlling access, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Requirements

• Prior hotel security leadership experience
• Luxury hotel experience preferred
• Strong judgment, communication, documentation, and de-escalation skills
• Ability to lead a team with fairness, consistency, and accountability
• Knowledge of incident response, investigations, emergency procedures, and safety standards
• NYS Security Guard License preferred or ability to obtain as required
• Federal Fire and Life Safety Director certification preferred

Qualifications
