About the role

The Assistant Director of Residence Life is a live-in staff member who assists in the oversight of the University’s residential program and student disciplinary process. They provide leadership for the residential program in addressing students' needs and interests to increase student satisfaction and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the supervision, training, and evaluation of graduate-level village coordinators and Resident Assistants
  • Provides leadership for the residential program in addressing students’ needs and interests to increase student satisfaction and retention
  • Collaboratively coordinates biweekly all-staff meetings
  • Works collaboratively with the Director to coordinate specific department-wide task forces, projects, and programs as needed
  • Collaborates with other Batten departments in providing oversight and direction for high-level service to both students and staff
  • Aids in coordinating the housing selection process
  • Serves as a member of the Administrator On-Call (AOC) team for all on-campus villages for crises that arise

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in higher education, student personnel, or similar discipline
  • Three years of supervisory residence life experience at an institution of higher education preferred

Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education administration
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of student development theories and practices

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
