Key Responsibilities
- Assist the DON in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
- Participate in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs for nursing services, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures, and identifying areas for improvement.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to promote professional growth and maintain a high level of clinical competency.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures. Assist in preparing for and participating in state and federal surveys.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for residents.
- Assist in managing nursing department resources, including staffing schedules, supplies, and equipment, to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Ensure that all nursing personnel comply with established infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide clinical and administrative support as needed.
- Address resident and family concerns related to nursing care in a timely and professional manner, promoting open communication and satisfaction.
- Assist in developing and conducting in-service education programs for nursing staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
- Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) with relevant experience considered.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF), long-term care, or acute rehabilitation setting.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor).
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing skilled nursing facilities (e.g., CMS, OBRA).
- Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and general computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
