About the role

The Assistant Director of Nursing is an RN or LVN responsible for the overall supervision of nursing care in the Skilled Nursing Facility at Morada Temple.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises direct nursing care in the Health Center
  • Administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is indicated
  • Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment
  • Assures accuracy and completeness of medical records
  • Coordinates, conducts and documents the MDS, resident care plans and conferences in the absence of the MDS nurse
  • Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts; participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation and evaluation of nursing staff
  • Assists with orientation of nursing personnel
  • Participates in family/resident counseling
  • Responds to emergency calls as necessary
  • Functions in the capacity of DON in his/her absence
  • Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to resident care
  • Some “on call” is required
  • Assures timeliness of physician visits
  • Accompanies physicians when making rounds
  • Notifies physician and family of changes in resident’s condition
  • Encourages rehabilitative techniques in order to restore residents’ independence
  • Assures proper functioning of medical equipment and adequate medical supplies
  • Assists DON in developing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Assists in infection control, safety and pharmacy rounds and audits
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Maintains current state license as a Licensed Professional Nurse or a Professional Registered Nurse per state regulations
  • Experience in the Skilled Nursing/LTC industries
  • Two (2) years experience as a Licensed Nurse
  • One (1) year nursing management experience
  • Must demonstrate competence in assessment skills, injections/medication administration, follow up and triage
