Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing and supervising the day-to-day activities of the facility in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. Ensure consistent quality care is delivered to the patient/resident population.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid nursing license in the applicable state.
  • Minimum of two years charge nurse and supervisory experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in directing and coordinating the day-to-day functions of nursing care to patients/residents in accordance with state and federal rules, regulations, and standard nursing practices.
  • Ensure the provision of treatments, medications, and nursing services according to a patient's/resident's care plan and physician-directed orders.
  • Participate in annual evaluations and, if necessary, disciplinary counsel/action in accordance with Cantex's Hiring and Retention Manual.
  • Assist in ensuring essential weekly and/or monthly committee meetings are held (e.g., Skin, Falls, Restraints, Weights, Assessments, and Quality Assurance Committees).
  • Conduct frequent daily rounds to ensure nursing service personnel perform their functions in accordance with Cantex's Clinical Policy and State/Federal guidelines.
  • Ensure each patient's accident or incident is fully documented and reported per Cantex's Clinical Policies and Procedures and state/federal regulations.
  • Promptly notify each patient's attending physician and family or responsible party of any significant change in the patient's health condition.
  • Function as a Team Leader/Role Model.
  • Take call periodically or as needed by the facility.
  • Ensure all Nursing Service personnel comply with Cantex Clinical Policies and Procedures.
  • Review and enforce Cantex Healthcare's Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention.
  • Assure patient/resident safety.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure Patient/Resident Care Management Systems are routinely in-serviced and incorporated into patient/resident care delivery.
  • Contribute to the orientation and professional development of the nursing staff.
  • Complete employee evaluations annually or post-probationary period, and provide counsel or disciplinary action when appropriate.
