About the Role

The Assistant Director of Nursing Services assists the Director of Nursing Services in directing and supervising the day-to-day activities of the facility in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. This position ensures consistent quality care is delivered to the patient/resident population and is delegated administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid nursing license in the applicable state.
  • Minimum of two years charge nurse and supervisory experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in directing and coordinating day-to-day nursing care in accordance with state and federal rules, regulations, and standard nursing practices.
  • Ensures provision of treatments, medications, and nursing services per patient/resident care plans and physician orders.
  • May participate in annual evaluations and disciplinary actions as outlined in Cantex's Hiring and Retention Manual.
  • Assists in ensuring essential weekly and/or monthly committee meetings (e.g., Skin, Falls, Restraints, Weights, Assessments, Quality Assurance) are held per Cantex's Clinical Policies and Procedures.
  • Conducts frequent daily rounds to ensure nursing service personnel perform duties in accordance with Cantex's Clinical Policy and State/Federal guidelines.
  • Ensures full documentation and reporting of each patient's accident or incident per Cantex's Clinical Policies and state/federal regulations.
  • Notifies attending physicians and families promptly of any significant changes in a patient's health condition.
  • Functions as a Team Leader/Role Model and takes call periodically or as needed.
  • Ensures all Nursing Service personnel comply with Cantex Clinical Policies and Procedures, including Abuse Prevention.
  • Responsible for patient/resident safety and routine in-servicing of Patient/resident Care Management Systems.
  • Contributes to the orientation and professional development of nursing staff.
  • Completes employee evaluations annually or post-probationary period and provides counsel or disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
