Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
About the role
Assist the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) with management responsibilities and in maintaining the quality of care. Responsibilities include weekly Wound/Skin Rounds, compliance oversight, and ensuring effective communication with all levels of nursing staff. Meet the medical needs of all residents, maintain comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice, and ensure accurate and timely completion of medical records. Assist with interviewing, hiring, and orienting new nursing staff, oversee daily staffing processes, and support infection control efforts. Maintain flexibility with work schedule to address unpredictable needs, including 24-hour on-call availability.
Responsibilities
- Assist the DNS with management responsibilities and quality of care oversight
- Conduct weekly Wound/Skin Rounds
- Assist with compliance and ensure effective communication across nursing staff levels
- Meet the nursing medical needs of all residents
- Provide 24-hour on-call support
- Coordinate and direct total planning for nursing services
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of medical records
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and orienting new nursing staff
- Oversee daily staffing processes
- Support infection control initiatives
- Maintain flexibility with work schedule to address unpredictable needs
Requirements
- Current State RN license required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Long-Term Care settings
- 2 years of management experience preferred
- 1 year of staff education experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills required
- Evidence of basic leadership skills and supervision ability
- Flexible hours required
