Responsibilities

  • Aid the Director of Nursing Services in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the overall operations of the Nursing Services department.
  • Meet the clinical needs of all residents.
  • Absorb and develop clinical policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that Nursing policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Oversee the certification of nursing assistants and track required in-service hours yearly.
  • Ensure proper medication administration, handling, storage, and auditing.
  • Engage in surveys and inspections by government agencies and implement plans of correction for deficiencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • A current, unencumbered license to practice as an LPN or RN in this state.
  • A Nursing Degree from an accredited school of nursing, college, or university; a B.S.N. is preferred.
  • CPR certified.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility.

  • The capacity to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • The capability to interact tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • A comprehensive understanding of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
  • The ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • A patient, tactful, professional demeanor, and enthusiasm.
  • The willingness to explore new methods and principles and integrate them into existing nursing practices.
  • The capacity to communicate effectively with appropriate personnel regarding emergency situations.
  • A thorough understanding of nursing theory and practice.
