Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Maintain good standing with the State Board of Nursing
  • 3-5 years of nurse management experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and survey readiness
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
  • Ability to interpret regulations, policies, and clinical procedures

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, and read regularly throughout the workday
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Frequent use of office equipment including computers, phones, copiers, scanners, and fax machines
  • Occasional travel may be required

Essential Duties

  • Assist the DON in planning, developing and supervising the activities of the nursing staff.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Work with the DON to recruit, hire and train nursing staff.
  • Assist DON with employee appraisals, and resolving problems including disciplinary action.
  • Act as the back-up for the DON, RN and LVN staff.
  • May be required to provide direct resident care as needed.
  • Oversee clinical operations, including making daily rounds and monitoring resident conditions.
  • Ensure resident safety, and ensure residents are treated with the utmost respect.
  • Serve as a liaison between the residents, family members and the physicians.
  • Attend and lead staff meetings in the DON's absence.
  • Provide reports and recommendations to the DON concerning the operation of nursing services.
  • Aid the DON in the design, implementation and evaluation of nursing systems that ensure consistent delivery of care and maintain and promote resident rights.
  • Aid the DON with conducting ongoing in-services for the nursing staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position regarding residents and employees.
  • Stay informed of regulatory changes and communicate updates appropriately.

Supervisory Requirements

  • Assists with the overall supervision and management of the nursing staff.
