Under the general direction of the Director of Nursing (DON) 3 (Long Term Care), this role plays a major leadership role in risk management, incident investigation, resident grievance resolution, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement to ensure resident safety, quality care, and compliance with federal and State regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration and supervision of nursing services within the facility.
  • Oversee the facility’s risk management, incident investigations, regulatory compliance, and grievance resolution processes.
  • Ensure resident care is delivered in accordance with CMS regulations, Department of Health (DOH) requirements, facility policies, and professional nursing standards.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership, interdisciplinary departments, residents, families, physicians, and regulatory agencies to promote resident safety, accountability, and continuity of care.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Transfer Candidates)

  • Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 23 or above.
  • Eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law to Assistant Director Nursing 1 Long Term Care.
  • Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.

Open Competitive (HELPS) Qualifications

  • Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
  • Three years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience in a long-term care setting, with at least one year at a supervisory level.

A master’s degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; a doctorate in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.

Degrees awarded from educational institutions outside of the United States or its territories must be independently verified for equivalency.

Pay

The posted salary range is $149,147 - $157,388, which includes:

  • An increased hiring salary for MC of $16,488.
  • A geographic pay differential of $35,000.
  • A downstate adjustment of $4,000.

Additional compensation includes:

  • Inconvenience pay of $575 per year for employees who work four or more hours between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • Shift differential of 7% for evening shift and 10% for night shift.
