About the role

The Assistant Director of Music for Camp and Operations will oversee planning and logistics for all Camp music programs, recruit and hire Camp music faculty and staff, and collaborate with various offices on campus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage planning and logistics for all Camp music programs
  • Oversee recruitment and hiring of Camp music faculty and staff
  • Communicate with faculty, students, and parents in alignment with institutional communication plans
  • Work with the Registrar and Facilities, Calendar, and Event Supervisor to maintain accurate logistical data for the Music curriculum
  • Work directly with Admissions and Marketing to facilitate dissemination of accurate camp program information
  • Collaborate as a member of the Music Leadership Team to support overall functioning of the Music Division
  • Oversee Senior Recital process, working with faculty and Event Supervisor on policies and schedule
  • Prioritize duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music, Music Education, Arts Administration, Arts Leadership, or a related field required; equivalent combination of exceptional professional experience will also be considered
  • Minimum of two years of experience managing operational logistics in a summer camp or comparable educational arts environment
  • Broad professional experience in music leadership with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders in both camp and academy settings
  • Experience overseeing operations, supporting students, and serving as a liaison with parents and families
  • Experience managing administrative functions, including scheduling, policies and procedures, instrument inventory, and data analysis/reporting
  • Proficiency with standard business software and information technology
  • Demonstrated passion for music and music education
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a collaborative team member
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong critical thinking and strategic planning abilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with young people in an educational environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, parents, and the broader Interlochen community
