About the Role

The Assistant Director of Employee Relations assists with the direction of employee relations, investigations, performance management, and supervisory training across the district. Reporting to the Director of Staffing & Employee Support, this position provides critical guidance to campus and department leaders on policy compliance, leads workplace investigations, and oversees the district evaluation process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist with complex workplace investigations, including misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and policy violations; prepare fact-based written summaries and recommendations.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to leaders and employees regarding disciplinary documentation, progressive discipline, and general inquiries.
  • Manage employee escalations from assessment through resolution to ensure consistent, fair, and timely outcomes.
  • Manage and monitor the district evaluation process (including T-TESS calendars and manuals) and partner with professional development teams on calibration.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze investigation tracking systems and reporting tools to share trends with district leadership.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing training for supervisors on employee relations and performance management.
  • Assist with revisions to the employee handbook and oversee aspects of the district’s criminal history review process.
  • Provide direction and guidance to assigned human resources staff.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local Board policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of employee relations management and general HR business practices.
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication, analyzing complex information, maintaining confidentiality, and utilizing database software applications.
