Core Responsibilities

  • Aids the Director in overseeing daily program/department operations.
  • Contributes to budget monitoring.
  • Supports interviewing and hiring processes.
  • Supports staff scheduling and coverage coordination.
  • Sponsors staff meetings, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assists in the coordination of existing services and service expansions.
  • Contributes to the development of new programs and initiatives.
  • Oversees and ensures the timely completion of necessary records and reports.
  • Supports data collection and analysis related to student progress, program outcomes, and operational metrics.
  • Collaborates with other Agency programs, departments, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinates services with state and federal governmental and regulatory bodies, community, and local agencies, and health care providers.
  • Maintains fiscal responsibility of the program/department, manages assigned budget areas.
  • Supports staff in-service and professional development needs.
  • Ensures staff certifications and/or licenses are current.
  • Participates in administrative team activities.
  • Adheres to mandatory reporting regulations and HIPAA laws.
  • Ensures compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
  • Fosters a positive work environment and assists in assimilating new employees.
  • Supports educational programs, including curriculum implementation, material development, and classroom support.
  • Interacts directly with students and families to address concerns, provide updates, and facilitate communication.
  • Leads or co-leads specific projects or initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred; Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience as a Special Education Teacher preferred.
  • NYSED School Building Leader or School Administrator certification (or eligibility/working towards) preferred.
  • Travel is required. Must have a valid NYS Driver's License.
