Position Overview
The Assistant Director of Clinical Trials Network/Biostatistician supports The Bronchiectasis & NTM Association, a division of The COPD Foundation, in managing research programs and conducting biostatistical analyses.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the Association's registries, ensuring milestones/goals are met, data quality standards are maintained, and sites and participants are supported.
- Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications department for recruitment campaigns and promoting BRR activities.
- Contributes to the development of the Association's research strategy, including data collection and patient-reported outcomes data.
- Addresses requests for use of the BRR and Empower registries, including data mining for research study/trial recruitment and performing data analyses for publication development.
- Develops grant and funding proposals for new programs and existing research programs.
- Oversees the Research Program Coordinator and Clinical Trials Network program coordinator, providing guidance on coordinating research programs and studies.
- Facilitates collaboration and provides consultation with study investigators and industry partners in research priorities, database design, protocol development, study design, analysis plans, and interpretation of study data.
- Performs and oversees trial design and analysis, descriptive and inferential analysis, epidemiologic analysis, sample size and power calculations, high-dimensional data analysis, risk prediction, complex survey analysis, time-to-event and longitudinal models, and statistical simulation.
- Performs data management and wrangling, analytic variable coding and data set creation, research database design, data visualization, abstract and manuscript preparation, presentations, and statistical programming.
- Participates in online communities such as BronchandNTM360social and COPD360social.
Professional & Personal Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Strong scientific writing and presentation skills, including authoring speeches and articles for publication and presenting information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret and communicate statistical inference, both in writing and orally, to collaborators, in conference abstracts and presentations, and manuscripts.
- Accurate, thorough, dependable, organized, with high attention to detail; strategically minded and able to handle multifaceted duties.
- Works well independently as well as cooperatively.
Education & Experience
- Master's degree or equivalent in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and/or Data Science program required.
- At least three years of post-graduate experience in research program administration and biostatistics required.
- Experience or interest in respiratory/pulmonary disease research is a plus but not required. Candidates with strong clinical research and biostatistics experience from any therapeutic area are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated experience with Electronic Database Capture software (REDCap Cloud or REDCap Academic) and statistical software (SAS, R).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and Zoom.
