About the Role
The Assistant Director prescribes nursing care, delegates nursing activities, and coordinates the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care to provide optimal quality care, consistent with the hospital’s mission and nursing philosophy, objectives, standards, and bylaws. The Assistant Director works with the Director in coordinating and directing staff and patient care activities to promote quality patient care. They are responsible for the CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) activities of the unit and for ensuring all staff members attend required in-service education programs. This role has full access to patient health information.
Responsibilities
- Prescribe and delegate nursing care activities.
- Coordinate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Work with the Director to coordinate and direct staff and patient care activities.
- Oversee CQI activities for the unit.
- Ensure staff attendance at required in-service education programs.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse Licensure.
- Staff Nurse experience required.
- BSN required or significant work toward completion (current incumbents as of 1/1/2010 are excluded from this requirement).
- Management experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Must possess full range of body motion to pass a basic FIT test, including bending, stooping, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
