About the role
The Assistant Director for Faculty Qualifications and Planning supports academic excellence and institutional accreditation at James Madison University. This role is responsible for managing the faculty credentialing process, collecting and verifying faculty qualifications, and supporting institutional planning and accreditation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Manages the faculty credentialing process by documenting qualifications and preparing determinations for accreditation reviews, reports, audits, and site visits.
- Collects, verifies, and maintains official transcripts and credential documentation for faculty in appropriate databases and tracking systems, ensuring files are complete, accurate, and compliant with university record-retention and confidentiality requirements.
- Maintains faculty qualification databases and tracking systems and contributes to continuous improvement of credentialing and qualification review processes.
- Manages the senior data collection project by tracking enrollment and completion of modules, applying and removing holds for graduating seniors, and ensuring accuracy of data collection components.
- Collaborates and communicates with stakeholders involved in the senior data collection process, administers the Canvas course, collaborates with the senior data collection working and reporting group, and communicates with advisors, instructional faculty, and students.
- Serves on the accreditation working group, interprets accreditor policies, procedures, and standards, and generates reports and documentation for institutional planning and accreditation efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential records.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with multiple customer bases in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Openness to change and learning new skills, particularly as it relates to information systems and new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Experience working with instructional faculty or academic administrators in a university or higher education setting, preferably within a Division of Academic Affairs.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing academic transcripts and credential documentation.
- Experience supporting regional or specialized accreditation in a university setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Access.
