About the Role

This position provides leadership and direction for the Facilities Department, encompassing maintenance, grounds, and apartment refurbishments. The role involves strategic planning and accreditation related to campus facilities and physical plant, as well as oversight of apartment refurbishments. The position ensures compliance with local, state, and federal statutes and campus safety programs, including healthcare facility standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and manage facilities management work order scheduling to ensure timely completion.
  • Prioritize work and proactively identify problem areas to maintain organizational standards.
  • Direct the apartment-refurbishing program for new and existing residents, coordinating with marketing and administration timelines.
  • Coordinate work with outside contractors and in-house maintenance staff.
  • Interact with residents, prospective residents, and various departments to address requests.
  • Interview, hire, train, evaluate, discipline, and terminate facilities maintenance and refurb personnel in collaboration with leadership and human resources.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, and train staff as needed.
  • Conduct performance reviews and set goals with staff.
  • Provide leadership for maintenance and refurbishment departments to ensure effective operations and timely task completion.
  • Demonstrate leadership in maintaining safety standards campus-wide via the Safety Committee.
  • Ensure safety training and correct unsafe conditions within the department.
  • Maintain current maintenance service contracts (e.g., disposal, elevator, emergency generator, landscaping, snow removal, life safety equipment).
  • Manage the facilities operating plan and campus capital refurb allocation plans within established margins.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive campus preventative maintenance program for all facilities and equipment.
  • Maintain records of repairs and replacements in conformance with protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required; Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or Business preferred.
  • Certification in Facilities Management disciplines preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe and clean driving record.
  • 5+ years of facilities experience (10+ years if no degree).
  • Experience as a senior-level facilities manager or equivalent leadership role, with direct supervision of a team.

Skills

  • General knowledge of building, construction, and maintenance procedures (e.g., electricity, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, electronics).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills for communication and management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English with all levels of staff, residents, and management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and compassion for senior adults.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, organize and supervise work, and prioritize building operations.
  • Ability to motivate and direct staff while leading safety practices by example.

Physical Requirements

This role involves a variety of physical duties, including office work, exposure to outdoor environments, unpleasant conditions, and occasional physical exertion. Considered light to medium-duty work, it requires mobility to move about the facility and campus, handling lightweight to moderately heavy materials, and using office equipment and small hand tools.

Pay

$91,959.00 - $130,753.50 per year.
