About the role
The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee is seeking an Assistant Day Camp Director for the 2026 summer session. This position will work under the supervision of the Day Camp Director.
Responsibilities
- Organize, implement, and maintain the summer camp program
- Develop and implement age-appropriate programming
- Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training staff
- Create, distribute, and maintain accurate records and reports
- Ensure the safety and care of participants through direct supervision and support to staff
- Maintain communication with staff and parents regarding camp needs
- Communicate professionally with facility personnel
- Follow state licensing, YoungStar, DCF standards, and YMCA policies
- Support the Day Camp Director in managing the program
Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in child development, education, sports and recreation or related field from an accredited college/university
- CPR and First Aid certification completed before the first day of camp
- Fingerprinting requirement completed prior to working first shift
- 2+ years’ experience working in an organized child program
- 2+ years supervisory experience
