About The Opportunity
The Assistant Director of the Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) advances cultural literacy and strengthens resources of care for all students at Northeastern University. Reporting to the Director, this position collaborates with the Director and Associate Directors to develop student engagement and support strategies that serve a diverse population across Northeastern's global campuses.
Responsibilities
- Support signature events and major programming initiatives including ideation, program coordination, day-of staffing, facilitation, documentation, and evaluation.
- Provide one-on-one direct support to students.
- Manage the Center’s web presence, social media accounts, weekly newsletter, and general inbox, triaging incoming messages as appropriate.
- Recruit, train, manage and supervise student staff responsible for staffing the CIE and outreach activities in conjunction with the CIE professional team.
- Assess, evaluate, and document programs and services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1-3 years of experience working with diverse or socially vulnerable populations—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience fostering collaboration with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- A high attention to detail, especially in regard to content formatting.
- Proficient understanding of graphic design and related software including Canva, Adobe InDesign, etc.
- Experience working in communications, event planning, or social media in a professional setting.
- Excellent judgement regarding social media best practices.
- Ability to work in open, collaborative space and manage a multi-faceted position.
