About the role

The Assistant Director/Chief Building Official is responsible for overseeing the building permit process, ensuring compliance with local and state building codes, and managing the construction inspection program.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the building permit process, including issuance, review, and approval.
  • Ensure all construction projects comply with local and state building codes.
  • Manage the construction inspection program to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to staff and applicants.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records related to building permits and inspections.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public and other departments regarding building codes and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field.
  • Knowledge of local and state building codes and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Schedule
