About the role
The Assistant Director/Chief Building Official is responsible for overseeing the building permit process, ensuring compliance with local and state building codes, and managing the construction inspection program.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the building permit process, including issuance, review, and approval.
- Ensure all construction projects comply with local and state building codes.
- Manage the construction inspection program to ensure safety and compliance.
- Provide technical guidance and training to staff and applicants.
- Prepare reports and maintain records related to building permits and inspections.
- Respond to inquiries from the public and other departments regarding building codes and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field.
- Knowledge of local and state building codes and regulations.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
