Assistant Director

Wonderspring, a nonprofit early childhood education organization, is seeking an Assistant Director to join our New Market West team. This role supports the overall operations of the center, including PreK Counts programs, while helping to ensure a high-quality experience for children, families, and staff.

About the Role

In this role, you will work closely with the Center Director to support day-to-day operations and ensure the center runs smoothly.

• Keep the center running smoothly by supporting day-to-day operations across Infant, Toddler, and Pre-K Counts classrooms
• Jump in to support staffing needs and make sure ratios are always met
• Serve as a point of contact between center staff and leadership
• Lead staff meetings and provide clear, helpful classroom feedback
• Support hiring, onboarding, and coaching of teachers
• Coordinate trainings, manage supplies, and help oversee the facility
• Ensure compliance with all licensing and Pre-K Counts requirements
• Build strong, positive relationships with families and keep communication consistent
• Support implementation of curriculum and encourage family involvement
• Represent Wonderspring in the community and work with partners, including the School District of Philadelphia

Requirements

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field (bachelor’s preferred)
• PA Director’s Credential, preferred
• At least 2 years related center management experience of mid-size Early Childhood programs
• Experience successfully partnering with multiple agencies, preferred
• Outstanding relationship builder within the community
• Demonstrated ability to manage the successful day-to-day operations of a high-quality center
• Knowledge and understanding of Keystone STARS
• Knowledge and experience with Creative Curriculum, preferred
• Must obtain all required clearances and complete a Health Assessment with TB screening prior to employment
