About the role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Assistant Director to assist with the daily operations of the school, ensuring the health and well-being of all children, families, and faculty.

Assistant Director Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate record-keeping, both state and GSI requirements (eg, children’s files, faculty files)
  • Manage classroom scheduling/schedule faculty
  • Review Employee Handbook annually
  • Conduct disaster drills (eg, fire, tornado) in accordance with GSI QA Standards and state licensing requirements
  • Maintain compliance with GSI QA Standards
  • Maintain a school inventory (eg, snacks, supplies)
  • Plan and implement a program for professional growth
  • Welcome all visitors to the School
  • Answer telephone calls
  • Schedule tours
  • Follow through with all prospective customers
  • Develop and maintain customer relations
  • Conduct an orientation program for new families
  • Conduct meetings with parent(s)/legal guardian(s) when necessary
  • Develop and maintain community relations
  • Administer and manage personnel functions including managing faculty schedule, conducting faculty orientation, maintaining accurate faculty files, planning/implementing bi-annual in-service meetings for faculty, planning first aid, CPR and any other required training, and planning emergency preparedness training
  • Manage program, program support, and professional development functions including conducting monthly classroom observations, keeping abreast of research and development in the field of early childhood development, maintaining a resource library at the School, planning/implementing professional development programs, conducting classroom ratio checks, planning and implementing a year-round calendar, planning and implementing procedures for maintaining accurate classroom records, providing faculty assistance with lesson plan preparation and theme development, reviewing lesson plan books weekly, reviewing posted lesson plans monthly, reviewing children’s portfolios regularly, and ensuring that each classroom has an effective management system in place
