Assistant Designer, Cold Weather & Fashion Accessories

About the role

This position supports the Senior Designer in executing all branded Cold Weather and Fashion Accessories for Steve Madden. The role is based in the NYC office and requires on-site work.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the creative design of accessories for quality, pattern, and color that aligns with trend direction provided by the Senior Design Director.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines with available support and resources.
• Maintain organizational skills to track samples and manage tracking sheets across multiple seasons.
• Develop a strong understanding of the brand aesthetic and technical design, including creating tech packs and measuring physical samples.
• Manage the sample closet and pull samples for customers as needed.
• Create CADs using Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Communicate directly with factories and cross-functional internal teams.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
• Experience with AI tools is preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field.
• Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Pay

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $26–28/hour, depending on relevant skillset, training, years of experience, education, and organizational structure.
