Assistant Department Manager (Tile)

About the role

This position trains and develops Product Sales Specialists and ensures customers receive exceptional customer service and product information.

Responsibilities

• Act and work in a manner consistent with company’s core values
• Demonstrate safe lifting practices and understand company’s policies
• Drive and teach the company’s retail philosophy
• Direct and assist in processing merchandise to the showroom floor
• Communicate inventory needs to management
• Validate product placement and pricing within the department
• Greet every customer and assist with product questions and selections
• Process customer refunds and exchanges according to established guidelines
• Present 'how-to' classes to customers
• Follow cash, check, and charge card acceptance procedures
• Stock and tag merchandise displays as required
• Communicate standard operating procedure direction and changes to all associates
• Complete industrial truck proficiency testing and certification
• Answer the telephone according to accepted guidelines

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of customer service/sales experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding and compliance with company’s safe lifting practices
• Thorough understanding of merchandise and installation
• Thorough understanding of standard operating procedures
• Completion of product specialist certification courses
• Ability to communicate standard operating procedure direction and changes to all associates
• Completion of Industrial Truck (forklift) proficiency testing and certification
• Ability to follow cash, check, and charge card acceptance procedures
• Ability to stock and tag merchandise displays as required
• Ability to present 'how-to' classes to customers
• Ability to answer the telephone according to accepted guidelines

• Store Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
• Pickup Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Working Conditions

• Exposure to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles
• Moderate to noisy noise levels in the work environment
• Physical Work: Ability to exert 30 – 60 pounds of force occasionally, and or 20-30 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry push, pull, or otherwise move objects
• Physical Requirements: Ability to use hands and fingers, to handle or feel, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
