Assistant Deli Manager

Responsibilities

• Assist the Deli Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
• Oversee ordering, inventory controls, and product quality.
• Supervise the Deli team and coordinate production, merchandising, and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
• Lead a team focused on delivering the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience.
• Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Deli team.
• Unload and sort store deliveries, operate and maintain deli equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, and validate team adherence to these procedures.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age with a preferred 2 years of supervisory experience and strong knowledge of deli or related food service.
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to take and give direction in a team environment.
• Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude; ability to interact with customers, take special orders, and answer phones.
• Proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff, with working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• Strong focus on detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Food Safety certification; ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations for product freshness, food safety, weights and measures, store safety, employee safety, refrigeration, and sanitation.
• Strong organization and planning skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry product weighing up to 70 lbs., from 4” to 60”, for a distance up to 20 feet without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours.
• Ability to stand for up to 4 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
• Operate slicers, wrapping, and cooking equipment; assist in maintaining all equipment in safe working condition.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $19.55 - $29.25 per hour. Pay is determined based on applicable experience and qualifications of the applicant.
