Essential Job Functions
- Direct and supervise all functions and activities in the Deli Department in the absence of the Deli Manager.
- Responsible for the performance and supervision of all Deli Clerk responsibilities during the deli hours of operation.
- Responsible for enforcing all the company policies in the absence of the Deli Manager.
- Responsible for the overall operation of the Deli Department in the absence of the Deli Manager.
- Manage inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock of deli meats, cheeses, salads, condiments, and other items.
- Ensure all products are prepared, stored, and served according to food safety guidelines, including temperature controls and expiration dates.
- Monitor food preparation and serving areas for compliance with local health codes and regulations.
- Greet all customers and be observant of the deli service counter during all hours of operation.
- Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
Supplemental Job Functions
- Assist the Deli Manager in observing local conditions and competitive activity relating to the Deli Department.
- Assist with cooking and preparing all foods.
- Direct the operation of the hot foods and grab and go case.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
- At least one year experience in the supermarket industry.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills for dealing with customers and Vendors.
- Able to unload, transport, and place merchandise to their designated areas.
- Able to slice and prepare deli products with dexterity in hands.
- Able to lift up to fifty pounds (50 lbs) up to twenty percent (20%) of the time.
- Exposed to extreme heat up to twenty percent (20%) of the time, and exposure to extreme cold of thirty-two degrees (32 degrees) up to twenty percent (20%) of the time.
- Able to stand upright for most of your scheduled work shift.
