About the role
The Assistant Dean, BSN Program oversees the nursing program activities, including budget management, curriculum development, and program compliance. They are responsible for maintaining educational partnerships and clinical site evaluations, as well as participating in faculty and program reviews.
Responsibilities
- Plans, develops, manages, updates and evaluates all aspects of the program including budget, faculty and staff, curriculum, and site visits.
- Ensures student and faculty records are maintained and works with HR to maintain qualifications.
- Identifies and obtains outside resources for the nursing program.
- Develops and implements program policies and procedures, organizes program committees, and oversees the admission process and orientation.
- Writes articulation agreements with nearby colleges and conducts clinical site evaluations.
- Completes and forwards BRN clinical approval forms, prepares data and materials for state and Board requirements, and ensures evaluations are provided to relevant parties.
- Maintains community relationships, advocates for programs, and participates in faculty meetings.
- Monitors quality of instruction, participates in faculty and program reviews, and conducts Nursing Advisory Committee meetings.
- Manages student appeals and grievances, advises and supports nursing students, and assures graduation and licensing requirements are met.
Requirements
- Current RN license in the state where the campus is located.
- A master’s or higher degree in nursing, education, or administration.
- Minimum of two years of experience in an administrative position.
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs.
- At least two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent communication abilities.
- Commitment to diversity and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and institutions.
- Experience in supervision, planning, budget preparation, and maintenance.
Qualifications
- Master’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university with course work in nursing, education, or administration.
- Two years of experience in an administrative position.
- Two years of teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs.
- At least two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent communication abilities.
