About the role
The Assistant Dean of External Affairs & Development (AD) plays a key leadership role in the Berkeley School of Information at the University of California Berkeley. Reporting directly to the Dean of the I School, the AD is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for fundraising, marketing, communications, and alumni engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements fundraising strategies and goals for the School of Information.
- Oversees alumni engagement initiatives and directs alumni relations programs.
- Manages a team of 4 positions and serves as a liaison between internal departments and across campus.
- Works closely with the Dean and senior leadership team to establish philanthropic priorities for the school and faculty.
- Serves as a liaison to the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) of Constituent Programs (CP), University Development & Alumni Relations (UDAR).
Requirements
Qualifications include:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in higher education fundraising, alumni relations, or related field.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience managing a team of professionals.
- Knowledge of best practices in alumni engagement and fundraising.
Qualifications

Pay
Salary range: $150,000 - $180,000 annually.
Schedule
The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work required.
