About the role

The Assistant Dean of External Affairs & Development (AD) plays a key leadership role in the Berkeley School of Information at the University of California Berkeley. Reporting directly to the Dean of the I School, the AD is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for fundraising, marketing, communications, and alumni engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements fundraising strategies and goals for the School of Information.
  • Oversees alumni engagement initiatives and directs alumni relations programs.
  • Manages a team of 4 positions and serves as a liaison between internal departments and across campus.
  • Works closely with the Dean and senior leadership team to establish philanthropic priorities for the school and faculty.
  • Serves as a liaison to the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) of Constituent Programs (CP), University Development & Alumni Relations (UDAR).

Requirements

Qualifications include:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in higher education fundraising, alumni relations, or related field.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience managing a team of professionals.
  • Knowledge of best practices in alumni engagement and fundraising.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in an academic setting.

Pay

Salary range: $150,000 - $180,000 annually.

Schedule
