About the Role
The Assistant Dean for Academics in the School of Social Work leads a team of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs staff that coordinate day-to-day academic operations and student support. This position works closely with Associate Deans and Program Directors on school-wide issues of academic and student affairs. This position manages the implementation of regular assessment and program review processes for program and university accreditation processes. This position demands a strategic and tactical leader and faculty partner dedicated to implementing the future of social work education, focusing on strategic design, creative problem-solving, and collaboration to advance the academic mission of the Tulane School of Social Work.
Responsibilities
- Development and management of comprehensive advising strategies to promote academic success and student wellness
- Work directly with graduate students facing complex academic situations and those in need of advanced advising and support
- Ensure that all Department of Athletics and University-related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations
- Attend and participate in scheduled compliance seminars and comply with all the Athletic Department's efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations
- Seek interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary
- Report potential rules violations immediately
- Complete required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner
- Monitor all areas and/or program activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of directly related experience
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field
- Experience with Banner, Salesforce, Slate, and other student services technology
- Experience with budget oversight, ideally with multiple budgets
- Experience with Social Work education
- Experience with assessment and accreditation processes

- Knowledge of student development and enrollment management theories and contemporary advising practices
